Growl or Purr: NYPL Redesigns Logo

New York Public Library's stately lion logo is being replaced with a "more modern and digital-friendly image."

Out with the old:
In with the new:Better? Worse? I'm wondering how much it will cost to print new signs, banners, handouts, etc. for every single branch. But no matter. NYPL made this little video to get you all excited about the change:

I don't think I mind the new image too much, but it looks a little off-center to me, sitting so far below "New York Public Library." And speaking of that, they took the "The" from The New York Public Library in this new logo.

I like the new logo. But I think they should get rid of the lion entirely and replace it with a fichus. What says knowledge/power/carbon dioxide/intelligence better than a fichus?
